Winrich Hopp

Winrich Hopp first completed studies in music in Darmstadt to then go on to study musicology and philosophy in Freiburg, Breisgau. He worked as Press Officer in the City of Dresden’s Cultural Affairs Office for Dresden’s Center for Contemporary Music. In 1997 he was entrusted with the artistic production and dramaturgy for the musica viva concert series at Bavarian Broadcasting and in 2002 he moved to the Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia on whose board he was appointed. He was, among other things, Board Member at Darmstadt’s Institute for New Music and Musical Education and founding member of the International Ensemble Modern Academy, Frankfurt am Main. Since 2006 he has been Artistic Director at Musikfest Berlin (organized by the Berliner Festspiele in cooperation with the Berlin Philharmonic Foundation) and since 2011 has also been Artistic Director at Bavarian Broadcasting’s musica viva concert series. Winrich Hopp is an ordinary member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts and sits on the Board of Trustees at Experimentalstudio SWR.
