Closing Concert at Villa Massimo featuring the Ensemble Modern
Deutsche Akademie Rom Villa Massimo, Italy
Since 2005 the closing concert at Villa Massimo has become a major fixture in Rome’s concert calendar. The two guest composers at Villa Massimo in 2014, Hanna Eimermacher and Vito Žuraj, will once again this year be presenting works that were developed under ideal conditions during their stay in Rome. These will be combined with canonical and topical contemporary works by Italian and German composers. The program will be rounded off by a renowned reference composer from another era. The works will be performed by the Ensemble Modern at one of Italy’s most important cultural centers: the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The closing concert draws increasing attention year on year – both amongst the audience itself (between 600 and 700 attended the last event) and in the media. This means the concert, now receiving the repeated support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, makes a key contribution to both popularizing contemporary music in Italy and to promoting young composers.
