Composition Commission issued to Salvatore Sciarrino

In future, Stadttheater Klagenfurt is planning to stage a premiere in the field of musical theater every season. As part of this move Salvatore Sciarrino will receive a composition commission for an opera to be supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. For over forty years now Salvatore Sciarrino has been one of Italy’s leading contemporary composers. His musical language allows the audience to engage in new types of listening, of perception of emotional reality – both their own and global reality. Until now Sciarrino has composed numerous works of musical theater while never standing still, always developing his style, his creativity ever further. The commissioned work for Stadttheater Klagenfurt will be premiered in spring 2020.
