Composer Conductor-Workshop – INK STILL WET

Grafenegg Kulturbetriebsgesellschaft, Austria

In two workshop phases, under the guidance of Georg Friedrich Haas, selected young composers develop works to be performed with the Tonkünstler Orchestra from their submitted sketches. They experience the reactions of the orchestra directly from the conductor's podium and have the unique opportunity to check their own work directly. The aim of the project is to create a learning, performance and further education platform for young composers and to promote creative and constructive exchange between creative and performing musicians. The composers are offered the opportunity to actually try out their own works with a large, professional orchestra. In addition, the workshop offers the opportunity to exchange ideas with representatives of the music business and to receive feedback on their own CV and works from publishers, organisers and orchestral musicians. Led by Georg Friedrich Haas, the current Composer in Residence of the Grafenegg Festival, the intention of the workshop is to give impulses for the creation and realisation of new works by the composers and to promote them. This should also enable a new perspective on one's own creative work. The works of all participants will be presented to the public in the final concerts at the Grafenegg Festival under the musical direction of the respective composers and broadcast on Ö1 radio. The concerts will be followed by discussions with the participants and the concert audience as well as a round of reflection with career counselling. The Composer Conductor Workshop INK STILL WET is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
