Lautstark 2023

Neue Musik Für Kinder und Jugendliche, Schwaz (AT)

Lautstark is a unique European offer for children and young people between the ages of 8 and 18 who already play an instrument. For one week, they dedicate themselves to making new music and, above all, to composing in a group. Compositions are created in various didactic formats from a specially created fund of impulses in advance: In five small groups of two teachers and 8 to 10 children of different ages, genders and instruments (called composition groups), six instrumental groups (woodwinds, brass, strings, keys, percussion, plucked instruments) and in the joint large group, new works are created.

In their own sound labs, they try out new ways of playing and producing sound on their own instruments (blowing into the violin, tapping, playing the piano, preparing instruments, etc.). The active role of the teachers is special: they make music at eye level as part of the groups, take up the children's ideas and help them to find a structure on their own. The participants improvise, conduct and sing, write (graphic) scores and perform their works with great concentration and seriousness at a public final concert. The special expressiveness of the young people at this age makes it an impressive experience for the audience every year. The music-making and composing workshop Lautstark 2023 is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
