Concert series "Traiettorie"

Traiettorie is an annual concert series in the northern Italian city of Parma, which was founded in 1991 by the non-profit organization Fondazione Prometeo in Parma. In more than 300 concerts, Traiettorie has hosted the most important international ensembles and soloists and has become one of the leading festivals for contemporary music in Italy. The programs of the concerts aim to promote a broader understanding and appreciation of contemporary music by highlighting its complex and diverse connections with the historical repertoire. There is also a focus on world premieres and commissions for young composers.

The concert series Traiettorie presents contemporary works alongside the classical, romantic and early modern repertoire. Following an edition on the music of Central Europe, the XXXIV edition of Traiettorie in 2024 will take the audience into the rich and diverse world of French music, tracing the development of French musical expression from the late 19th century to the present day. It will showcase the evolution of French musical expression from the late 19th century (Fauré, Debussy and Ravel) to the present day (Pascal Dusapin, Philippe Leroux, Gérard Pesson, Jérôme Combier, Philippe Hurel, Yves Chauris, etc.), showcasing a variety of styles, influences and artistic visions. There will also be some pieces by two leading figures of the 20th century such as Olivier Messiaen and Pierre Boulez, who had a decisive influence on the musical landscape, as well as pieces by the spectralist movement, represented by Tristan Murail and Hugues Dufourt. In addition, some of the most important works of 20th century music (e.g. Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire) as well as new compositions by Marco Momi, Martino Traversa, Patrick Marcland, Jacques Lenot and Alain Bancquart will be performed, providing a representative picture of contemporary trends. The works will be performed by internationally renowned ensembles and soloists such as the Ensemble Court-Circuit, the Ensemble Cairn, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, the Tana Quartet, Laurent Camatte, Orazio Sciortino and Emanuele Torquati.
