Concert tour: Schönberg’s 150th anniversary

Association Les Diotima, Strasbourg (FR)

Arnold Schönberg is one of the most important figures in avant-garde music. On the occasion of his 150th birthday, the string quartet Quatuor Diotima would like to celebrate the spirit of avant-garde music worldwide with concerts that bring Schönberg together with living composers of our time: Oscar Bianchi, Augusta Read-Thomas (commissioned by Diotima), Marc Monnet, Thomas Larcher (commissioned by Diotima), Daniel Alvarado, Lisa Streich and Dieter Ammann. In addition, the quartet will give a master class and a special concert at the University of California in Los Angeles, where Schönberg taught composition from 1936 to 1944, with works by Schönberg and composition students of the university. The Quator Diotima's concert tour to mark Schönberg's anniversary is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
