Portrait Øyvind Torvund

Miller Theatre, New York (USA)

The Miller Theatre at Columbia University is the leading contemporary music promoter in New York City and a major force for innovative programming nationwide. The centrepiece of its new music programming for over 20 years has been a signature series of composer portraits. Each full-length concert is a showcase of a single artist's work, inviting new music experts and novices alike to learn about and explore new works and living composers.

A series of five composer portraits will include a portrait of the Norwegian composer Øyvind Torvund, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. Øyvind Torvund collaborates with the ensembles Yarn/Wire and the JACK Quartet for two world premieres. He will compose a new octet with both ensembles and a new version of his 2020 work Plans for Future Ensemble Pieces. The concerts also feature an onstage discussion with Øyvind Torvund.
