Plakat Festival Ensemble(s)

Ensemble(s) #4

Association Festival Ensemble(s), Paris (FR)

Ensemble(s) is a festival dedicated to the music of our time, led by five of the most active French ensembles in this field with a common voice. Together, the ensembles Cairn, Court-circuit, Multilatérale, Sillages and 2e2m have joined forces and inventiveness to launch the festival Ensemble(s) in 2020. After the success of the first editions, they decided to continue this joint adventure. This year's Festival Ensemble(s) #4 will take place at the Théâtre L'Echangeur in Bagnolet, near Paris, from September 13 to 17, 2023, and is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.

For four days, each entity will present a program of their most important composers of all generations, aesthetics and origins, including four world premieres. This year's edition focuses on the voice, which will be heard in all concerts.

The first concert, on September 13, will bring together the five ensembles under the direction of their musical directors to perform six major pieces, two of which will be commissioned. A first piece will be commissioned from Italian Lara Morciano and a second from French composer Jean-Luc Hervé. His work puts amateur music in the foreground: seven amateur guitarists from Bagnolet will play an important role. Placed in the audience, they will answer to the musicians on stage. Classical and popular culture will discuss like two complementary voices without hierarchy.

As in the first three editions, between the short concerts the audience will have the opportunity to meet the musicians and composers and talk at the bar. These shared moments with the artists will be led by Corinne Schneider (musicologist and radio producer). She will conduct interviews with composers and musicians and give the audience tips for listening.

In addition, as last year, there will also be performances by students from the Paris National Conservatory (contemporary repertoire class directed by Hae Sun Kang), the Conservatories of the 11th and 20th districts of Paris, and the Ivry Conservatory.
