November Music 2024

's-Hertogenbosch (NL)

November Music is one of the most important festivals for new music. The festival takes place annually for eleven days in the beautiful medieval center of 's-Hertogenbosch and offers over 100 different concerts that attract 12,500 visitors. A special focus is placed on commissions to Dutch and international composers.

This year's festival edition, which is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, focuses on female composers and top international ensembles and musicians. With new works and performances by Liza Lim, Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, Laura Bowler, Ann Cleare, Juste Janulyte, Annelies van Parys, Arooj Aftab, Elisabeth Hetherington, Mayke Nas, Bec Plexus, Karmit Fadael, Dyane Donck, Saskia Venegas, Mathilde Wantenaar, Kate Moore and Seung-Won Oh, November Music aims to show how many fantastic female composers there are today. New and current works by some of today's best-known composers will also be performed: Enno Poppe, Georg-Friedrich Haas, Bernard Lang and Jürg Frey. International ensembles such as the Ensemble Modern and Decoder from Germany, the Nadar Ensemble from Belgium, the Crash Ensemble from Ireland and the Diotima Quartet from France will be performing. The Basel Sinfonietta with the Nik Bärtsch Mobile Trio, the composers Jürg Frey and Oscar Bianchi and the sound artist Cathy van Eck form a Swiss focus. With eight Dutch (Mayke Nas, Saskia Venegas, Brechtje van Dijk, Karmit Fadael, Micha Hamel, Bram Kortekaas, Rob Zuidam, Andys Skordis) and three international (Ann Cleare, Laura Bowler, Enno Poppe) commissions, November Music shows in its 32nd edition how diverse and lively contemporary music is.
