Spitalfields Music Festival

Spitalfields Music Festival

London (UK)

The Spitalfields Music Festival takes place in summer 2023 and presents a mix of new commissions, contemporary music and performances of early music in unusual venues. Over two weeks, the Spitalfields Music Festival, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, will feature numerous concerts in London. The programme includes a vast number of new works and contemporary classical music by composers from the UK and further afield. The festival brings together a broad range of artists and styles in order to demonstrate the breadth of what contemporary and classical music has to offer. Commissioned and premiered works by established and less established composers will be performed, including: James Macmillan, Philip Herbert, Michael Finnissy, Klaus Lang, James Weeks, Ian Wilson, Rasmus Zwicki, Roderick Williams and Edward Cowie. A number of contemporary works by the following artists will also be performed: Libby Larsen, Eleanor Alberga, Julian Philips and young composers from Cheltenham's Composers Academy. The works will be performed by the finest musicians from the UK and beyond, including: Dunedin Consort, Explore Ensemble, Voces8, GBSR Duo, Anna Dennis (soprano) and Roderick Williams (baritone).
