Anniversary concerts at the Tonhalle Zurich

07.09.2023

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, two more concerts will take place on October 1, 2023, this time at the Tonhalle Zurich. With the Quatuor Diotima, one of the leading string quartets of our time and with Pierre-Laurent Aimard, who will perform with his duo partner Tamara Stefanovich, an Ernst von Siemens Music Prize winner could be won for these concerts.

The program of the concerts at 2:15 p.m. and 5 p.m. includes works that review the history of the Foundation over the past 50 years and thus also the history of New Music: string quartets by Per Nørgård, Wolfgang Rihm, Pierre Boulez and Henri Dutilleux; piano works by György Kurtág, György Ligeti, Rebecca Saunders and Olivier Messiaen. In addition, there will be works by the current Composer Prize winners Sara Glojnarić and Eric Wubbels.

Two works created especially for the anniversary will also be presented. With his sound installation in unknown elements... in endless transmutation..., Christian Mason has transformed the music of the prize winners into a new work of his own. Lisa Streich has chosen an unusual format for her anniversary composition: the Daumenkino.
