Novalis Festival 2022

Novalis Concept, Osijek (HR)

The Novalis Festival 2022 focuses on migration and connects the international cultural scene with the city of Osijek in Croatia. A census in Croatia revealed that the country has lost10 percent of its population in the last 10 years. For the festival, composition commissions will be given to young Croatian composers Ana Horvat and Tomislav Oliver, as well as American composer Nick Virzi, who will address the theme of migration, movements and change in abstract form. The festival will open with Pierre Jodlowski's installation Passage.  For this installation, composers and interpreters submitted works that they composed or will interpret on this theme. A balance between local, national, and international participants is intended to enable the best possible exchange of knowledge and experience. In addition to concerts, workshops will be held with Mia Elezović (piano), Barbara Lüneburg (violin), Szilard Benes (clarinet) and composers Pierre Jodlowski, Johannes Kreidler, Katherine Rosenberger and Davor Vincze. The Novalis Festival is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
