Ars Nova Conzert SWR

Donaueschingen, Germany

The “ars nova” concert series has existed for over 40 years now. Artistic direction comes care of the editorial team for New Music at SWR in Baden-Baden. The ars nova concert series will convey key impulses to the current music scene and seek direct and live contact with listeners on site. Numerous compositions by key composers of the post-war avant-garde like Karlheinz Stockhausen, Morton Feldman, Helmut Lachenmann, Isang Yun, Wolfgang Rihm, Dieter Schnebel, Brian Ferneyhough, Nicolaus A. Huber and Jörg Widmann were launched here. Outstanding events of the most recent past include concerts featuring ensemble recherche, Ensemble Aventure, Collegium Novum Zürich, Kammersensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Ensemble Mosaik, composer and clarinetist Jörg Widmann and a three-day festival with the Arditti Quartet and its former members. ars nova concerts will primarily be held in the broadcasting region of German broadcaster Südwestrundfunk – including Rottenburg, Ravensburg, Rottweil, Biberach an der Riß, Freiburg, Mainz and Edenkoben. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation will be supporting commission compositions for the 2014/2015 season issued to Gianluca Ulivelli and Tomoko Fukui.
