Ensemble Modern & Helmut Lachenmann as Guests at „Moscow Forum“

Goethe-Institut Moscow, Russia

Set up in 1993 as an independent institute at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Centre for Contemporary Music in Moscow (CCMM) will this year be devoting its annual festival for contemporary music, Moscow Forum, to contemporary German music with a focus on the compositions and the musical aesthetics of Helmut Lachenmann. For this the conservatory will be inviting – with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation – Helmut Lachenmann and the Ensemble Modern to concerts and workshops in the Russian capital. The festival has made it its task to contribute to the development of contemporary art and music in Russia by means of international exchange.

Centerstage at this year’s edition of the festival will be the two concerts by the Ensemble Modern. A high point of the second concert will be the joint performance of Helmut Lachenmann’s “…zwei Gefühle…, Musik mit Leonardo” – which is to be elaborated by the Ensemble in extensive rehearsals in Moscow together with Helmut Lachenmann.
