orgel-mixturen 2013 - 9th International Festival for Contemporary Organ Music

Kunst-Station Sankt Peter Cologne, Germany

Topical works displaying a variety of aesthetics are at the focus of the orgel-mixturen festival that concentrates on contemporary organ music and that does not contain any other instrument mixes. In 2004 Sinzig organist and composer Peter Bares brought to Cologne an organ for New Music with over 100 organ stops, striking mechanisms, wind pressure attenuators and key locking mechanisms. On this organ for New Music housed at the art venue Kunst-Station Sankt Peter over 150 contemporary works for organ have been performed over the last five years. Composers whose works have been played here include Juan Allende-Blin, Luciano Berio, Markus Bongartz, Gerald Eckert, Johannes Fritsch, Andreas Gürsching, Jörg Herchet, Erik Janson, Dieter Mack, Younghi Pagh-Paan, Charlotte Seither and Helmut Zapf. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the festival orgel-mixturen in 2013.
