International Young Composers Academy Ticino

Lugano (CH)

The International Young Composers Academy in Ticino brings together young composers from all over the world. The aim of the academy, which is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, is to work together intensively and profoundly and to exchange ideas about brand-new works, to learn, create and premiere works. Ten young composers will be selected for this. The academy consists of two parts: a theoretical part (seminars, lectures, presentations, individual lessons) and a practical part (rehearsal, supervision, and premieres of the written music). The participants receive individual tuition from the three composition professors Isabel Mundry, Samir Odeh-Tamini and Oscar Bianchi before their works are premiered in final concerts. In addition, the five renowned Swiss composers Barblina Meierhans, Bettina Skrzypczak, David Philip Hefti, Andreas-Eduardo Frank and Adam Maor will present works and give lectures to enrich the Academy in its stylistic and cultural diversity. The vision behind the International Young Composers Academy in Ticino is to create a sustainable, valuable, and lasting relationship between young composers from all parts of the world and the beacons of contemporary music.
