Österreichische Musikzeitschrift

Europäische Musikforschungsvereinigung Wien, Austria

Contemporary music has always played a key role in Austria’s music journal Österreichische Musikzeitschrift (ÖMZ) founded in 1946. This focus is now to be highlighted even further. The ÖMZ provides media coverage on current music, reports on current performances and introduces relevant symposia, music releases and books. At the same time, it also turns its attention to international trends and historical processes. Alongside its regular reports on performances and premieres as well as themed features (regularly also reaching up to the present day) a new column has now been established entitled “Neue Musik im Diskurs” (New Music in Discourse) where current developments or compositions are discussed in each issue. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting these parts of the journal focusing on contemporary music.
