Bridges 2015 | Publication
Fundacja Muzyczna "Harmonie i halasy" ("Harmonies and Noises" Music Foundation), Poland
In 2015 “Bridges” places the Italian composer Luigi Nono center stage. Concerts in Cracow and Thorn pick up on two particular aspects of Nono’s work: reflection on the tragedies of the 20th century and the appeal to the potential of humanity.
As part of the project the book “Mistrz dźwięku i ciszy. Luigi Nono” (“Maestro of Sounds and Silences. Luigi Nono”) will be presented by Krzysztof Kwiatkowski. Despite Nono’s close links with Poland (two of his compositions bear the title “Diario polacco”) only few publications on his music appear in Polish. These are mainly limited to impressions of performances and are not studies delving any deeper into his work. Supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, Kwiatkowski’s publication is the first detailed study of Nono’s work to appear in Poland. The work focuses on the composer’s musical language relating this to his beliefs, ideas and goals.
