Concert Series: DYSTOPIEN

Under the term Dystopien NAMES gathers its three-part series of events of the year 2023 and thematizes the field of meaning of "un- or mis-places" as a counterpart to Thomas More's concept of positive, likewise fictional utopia. Within the framework of the events, various artistic positions will be presented and put up for discussion that deal with dystopian forms and their heterotopias as "counter-placements or abutments" (Foucault). The concert series Dystopien is sponsored by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.

The concert series includes three events of different formats: a transdisciplinary performance with a world premiere by Alex Bauer, a collaboration of Ensemble NAMES with the French jazz band K-ubik initiated by Matthias Leboucher, and a new program with world premieres by Georgia Koumará and selected works of a call for scores, which will be presented at Wien Modern, in Salzburg and Innsbruck.
