Music Current Festival 2024

Music Current 2024 is a five-day festival of contemporary Irish and international music with six evening concerts as well as workshops, masterclasses and panel discussions. The concerts will feature the Dublin Sound Lab Ensemble, the TAK Ensemble (USA), the Black Page Orchestra (AT), NADAR (BE), lovemusic (FR/UK) and works by commissioned composer João Pedro Oliveira.

The festival, which is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, comprises three strands: public concerts featuring established and emerging international and Irish composers, soloists, artists and ensembles; public discussions on technology and music reception; and professional public engagements in the form of masterclasses, workshops, panel discussions and open rehearsals led by participating composers and ensembles.

The festival includes an annual “call for works”, the result of which will be performed at the following year's festival. The commissioned composer for 2024 is João Pedro Oliveira from Portugal.
