Klangspuren Future Lab

Klangspuren Schwaz – Verein zur Förderung neuer Musik (AT)

Music is communication, it speaks to us directly, holistically, almost with all our senses, but also intellectually and in any case directly physically. In fact, it is almost impossible not to be touched by it in some way. In its contemporary forms of expression, this intrinsic power of music gains even more urgency: it surprises us with unexpected sounds, colours and rhythms and, as the language of our time, has the ability to interpret our being-in-the-world in sounds. KLANGSPUREN SCHWAZ has been bringing contemporary music to audiences in this fascinating variety for 30 years.

In 2022, the festival successfully initiated the Future Lab academy, which will be based on two pillars in 2024: Composers Lab and konsTellation plus. The Klangspuren Future Lab is aimed at highly talented young musicians and composers who aspire to a career as professional musicians. This year, the Academy Future Lab is once again supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.

With Chaya Czernowin, Francesco Filidei, Gregor Mayrhofer and the Ensemble NAMES 2024, outstanding musical personalities have been recruited for the Composers Lab, who will be able to show eight selected composers new inspirations and perspectives through their expertise. The practical work on their works written especially for NAMES will be a “reality check”. On September 17, 2024, the works will be premiered by NAMES as part of Klangspuren Schwaz.

konsTellation plus is an offer from Klangspuren Schwaz and the Tyrolean State Conservatory aimed at young musicians who are studying or have studied in Innsbruck and a large proportion of whom come from Tyrol. By working with great artistic personalities, the participants have the opportunity for intensive further training and a lasting increase in experience.
