Multipercussion, accordion & clarinet: new music by children and young people

Freunde und Förderer der Komponistenklasse Dresden (DE)

The Dresden Composers' Class is an independent class that operates on the basis of a sponsoring association. It has been run by the Dresden composer Silke Fraikin since 1991. Here, 8 to 19-year-old composing students meet and, under the guidance of experienced composers (Silke Fraikin, Johannes Korndörfer, as well as guest lecturers such as Annette Schlünz and Bernd Schumann), work on their own ideas for pieces, receive ear and rhythm training, get to know different instruments, composers and their works, and go on a journey of discovery by reading scores and listening to music. An essential part of the projects is to introduce the young music creators to other artistic disciplines, to encourage cross-genre work and artistic exchange with other youth projects. The pieces they create in two projects will be developed by renowned interpreters of new music and premiered in two public concerts.

In 2024, the focus will be on the world of percussion instruments in combination with the diverse tonal possibilities of accordion and clarinet. The Dresden Composers' Class 2024 is funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
