Lautstark 2024

Klanggang – New music for children and young people, Schwaz (AT)

Lautstark is a unique Europe-wide offer for children and young people between the ages of 8 and 18 who already play an instrument to devote a week to making new music and, above all, composing in a group. Compositions are created in various didactic formats from a pool of impulses specially created in advance: New works are created in five small groups of two teachers and eight to ten children of different ages, genders and instruments (called composition groups), seven instrumental groups (woodwind, brass, strings, keys, percussion, plucked instruments, singers) and in the joint large group. New ways of playing and producing sound on their own instruments are tried out in their own sound laboratories (blowing into the violin, tapping, playing the piano, preparing instruments, etc.).

The active role of the teachers is special: they make music at eye level as part of the groups, pick up on the children's ideas and help them to find a structure on their own. The participants improvise, conduct and sing, write (graphic) scores and perform their works with great concentration and seriousness at a final public concert. The special expressiveness of young people of this age makes it an impressive experience for the audience every year.

Lautstark 2024 is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
